about

Reading Orwell’s “Down and Out in Paris and London” it occurred to me that too many artists tend to romanticize poverty. At the same time the opposite is also true: fame and riches have hidden costs. This is a tongue and cheek cautionary song of maintaining a healthy detachment from any such fantasies of success or romantic notions of the starving artist.

lyrics

I was happy x 4
I was the Lowest of the Low
They had my future x 4
Had my ready made soul

Don't let this happen x 4
When you kiss them let them go

Don't let this happen x 4
Use your body and run

They got your future x 4
Got your ready made soul

ooh yeah I was happy was the lowest of the low x 2

The isolation
The muck The Gold
He came he Saw
He went Mad

I was happy x 4

Too bored by fantasy
Too smart for TV
Tear up your CV
No God
Not You Not Me

I was happy x 4
was The lowest of the Low
They had my future x 4
They had my ready made soul

Ooh yeah i was happy
Was the lowest of the Low
Ooooh Yeah I was happy
Was the Lowest of the Low

Of the Low x 16

I am the Optimist About nothing at all
I am the Sensationalist about nothing at all
I am the Hedonist without nothing at all
I am the Preparationalist for nothing at all
I am the Reparationalist for nothing at all
I am the Optimist about nothing at all
I am the Sensationalist about about nothing at all
I am the Hedonist without nothing at all

about

Elyas Khan Berlin, Germany

Brawl In Paradise is Elyas's first solo record following three releases from his NYC based band Nervous Cabaret. Rejecting cultural and artistic nostalgia, Elyas rips apart his music, creating new soundtracks of post-glam, pre-revolutionary, art-rock: styled, not fashioned. Khan fits with musicians who are defined within their own context: artists such as Peter Gabriel, Amanda Palmer or Radiohead. ... more
